What is a Student Society? A society is a group of students who assemble on a regular basis to discuss issues of common interests that often deal with healthcare, the PA profession, or other issues that can effect them as students or future leaders. To be officially recognized by the Student Academy of American Academy of Physician Assistants (SAAAPA, a student society must have at least 5 PA student members who are also members of AAPA. There is a limit of only one society per accredited PA program. Why do we at ECU have a Student Society? Having a society made up of students provides us with the ability to open the door to new opportunities for individuals, our peers, our program, and our community. It also provides us the unique opportunity to network with fellow students, promote the PA profession, and provide input to the AAPA as it makes important decisions. We can act as a support group for PA students during our studies. |
