The Department of Physician Assistant (PA) Studies offers a 24-month program of campus instruction, as well as an innovative 36-month course of instruction using distance-learning technology. Both programs result in the award of a bachelors degree and qualify the graduates to take the national certifying exam. Students receive the preparation to allow them to sit for the certification exam in both family practice and surgery. The PA Department is housed on the West Research Campus in the same facility as the North Carolina Institute for Health and Safety in Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and has available approximately 6,000 square feet of space. For more information on the program, including an electronic program brochure, please feel free to explore our web site. Please note that even though our program leads to the award of a bachelors degree, we have requested permission from the North Carolina General Assembly to convert to a Masters level program. If approved, the minimum credentials that will be needed for admittance will be a bachelors degree awarded from a regionally accredited institution. . |
