It is the vision of the Department of Physician Assistant Studies that we, as students, participate in an educational experience that provides the graduates of the program the ability to enhance the access to medical care for the citizens of Eastern North Carolina and beyond. The department ensures the participants are exposed to a community where faculty staff, clinical instructors, students and other healthcare providers work together in and atmosphere of mutual respect, cooperation and commitment. The department is committed to providing leadership in the Physician Assistant profession via active faculty involvement in appropriate primary health care, continuing medical education, and entry-level education in basic medical and surgical skills. The Department utilizes available resources and is committed to participation in activities, which increase the publics knowledge and understanding of the Allied Health Sciences. A particular emphasis is made to educate and care for the people residing in Eastern North Carolina.

Host City Prevention Campaign

Every year, AAPA, the PA Foundation, APAP, and the Student Academy jointly sponsor the Host City Prevention Campaign, which honors a worthy cause in the host city of AAPAs annual conference. Past campaigns have focused on such worthwhile issues as end-of-life decision making, breast cancer awareness, organ transplants, violence prevention, asthma in inner-city children, childhood immunizations, teenage suicide prevention and mental health, and housing for the low income.
Look in future editions of AAPA News and on the AAPA Web site for articles about the Host City Prevention Campaign and its support of the host city project..
